From the moment we saw this in Laine’s beautiful book 52 Weeks of Shawls, we knew we had to knit one for ourselves... ✨

There’s a lot of beautiful yarn in this one — something to truly wrap yourself up in. The knitting is predominantly garter stitch, gently broken up with three panels of simple lace.

You begin by casting on the widest edge, then slowly decrease along one side, watching the shape form as you go 😊

Designed by Claire Wells.

Claire Wells, originally from the North West of England, now lives in Nova Scotia, Canada with her husband and pup. She first began knitting as a teenager, but it wasn’t until her mid-twenties that she truly got bitten by the knitting bug. Claire loves simple designs with interesting, thoughtful details and creates patterns that feel both fun and soothing to knit.

    My Hiraeth Shawl journey

    Very easy knit once the pattern is established as the pattern instructions were a little difficult to understand so thankfully there was a chart to follow. Really enjoying this knit.
